CHORAL WORKSHOP
Is a three-day seminar for both
director and singer that will enlighten and inform
participants in musical instruction. The development and
uniqueness of Serbian music, both liturgical and secular, is
its primary focus. The Sunday Divine Liturgy affords
workshop participants the opportunity to implement what they
have learned by either directing or singing. The workshop
site rotates around the North American continent to enable
all singers an opportunity to participate

Dear Singers,
The ST. ELIJAH SERBIAN ORTHODOX
CHURCH CHOIR Aliquippa, Pa is proud to announce that we will be the hosts of the
42nd SSF Choral Workshop. The workshop will convene Friday morning
August 13, 2010 and conclude Sunday August 15th (See your Schedule of
Events Sheet). Please mark your calendar with these dates. For those arriving
Thursday evening we will host a gathering in the Hospitality room at the below
listed hotel.
This year, our Workshop
Committee has pulled out all the stops to make this an outstanding workshop
experience for everyone. We have reserved the Church Center Hall to accommodate
all of the participants. Once again we have booked the Hyatt Regency Hotel
-Pittsburgh International Airport for lodging (same hotel we had for the SSF
Festival two years ago). We obtained the unbelievable price of just $79 per
night (plus tax) which this year also includes a Continental breakfast each
morning in a designated meeting room of the hotel. Parking for guests is $5.00
each day. You may call 724-899-1234 our group name is SSF CHORAL WORKSHOP and
subtitled under ST. EILJAH CHOIR you must ask for this our you will not get
the $79 per night rate. Reservations must be made by JULY 22ND,
2010.
We are excited that once again
we will host the following individuals: Coordinator and Speaker - Dr. Rick Zivic
DDS participating speakers are Dr. Nikola Resanovich PhD , Professor Milutin
Lazich and guest speaker our very own V. Rev. Fr. Stevan Stepanov who will speak
on “The
Role of the Choir and Meaning of Choral Responses During a Liturgy Service.
“
The St. Elijah Church Choir
wants you to complete and send in your registration forms immediately to assure
yourself a place among the participants as well as to help us plan the lunches,
dinners and entertainment for the weekend. Deadline is July 30th and
must be sent to RICK ZIVIC along with your registration fee made payable to the”
SSF”. It is our hope to make this one of the biggest and most participated
Choral Workshops. Remember this workshop is not only for those who wish to
learn directing techniques but also is very informative on learning vocal
techniques, sight reading music and education in choral literature. It is our
hope that you inform all of your choir members to come to “Almost Heaven
Aliquippa” (had to get that in here) and join us for the 42nd Annual
SSF Choral Workshop!
